Nike 6.0 has staked its claim in this expanding market sector by announcing the launch of its first ever women’s lifestyle apparel and footwear collection, inspired by team athletes Monyca Byrne-Wickey, Ellery Hollingsworth, and Carissa Moore.

The collection features apparel ranging from layering tanks and tees and pull over crew fleeces to fitted men’s-inspired flannels and a hoodie-lined jacket with a water-repellent, DWR shell. Many of the products (such as the Nike Balsa Mid, shown below) were created using Nike’s “Considered Design,” drawing on materials and manufacturing practices that contribute to environmental sustainability. The women’s launch will be followed by a new all-female surf movie featuring the entire 6.0 surf team, which is currently still being shot and is scheduled to be released in Fall 2010.
